A Strawberry in the Rain (entry no.31)

I have been up since 6:30, I am running on a solid 5 hours of sleep and it is currently a quarter to midnight. I most definitely should be sleeping but what can ya do when you love to write as much as I do. The last few posts have very much centered around soccer, specifically England's journey throughout the Euro's. However, now that they are over I find myself preparing for the Primer League season to start up again. Arsenal recently released their new away kit for the season, they are black, red, and green. I definitely like them better than last year's away kit but it's honestly nothing to gush over. However, do you know what is worth gushing over? "POR QUE SERA" by Grupo Frontera and Maluma. Oh. My. Goodness. It is such a good song, perfect summer heartbreak vibes and instantly iconic.

Speaking of music, whoever was playing music over the speakers at work today was killing it. I swear I thought someone had taken my playlist or something. We went from "Hips don't lie" by Shakira to "Mercy" by Shawn Mendes, I was loving it and kept fighting the urge to sing along. Today was a good day for me, I feel tired and happy. I once read that happiness is not dependent on our circumstances rather it is dependent on our attitude. How true those words have become as I have grown up. Life is all about dancing in the rain, splashing around with wet socks and a smile on your face. Circumstances will never be ideal and if they for some reason are, the sad truth is that they will not last long. That is why it is so important to enjoy the little moments in the every day.

I can't believe how quickly summer is going by, July is almost over and it feels like it never even properly begun. I feel like I've done a lot and nothing at all at the same time. Yesterday I went to a costume party. Everyone was told to dress like their favorite comic and cartoon characters. I went as Strawberry Shortcake, who I recently learned is called Rosita Fresita and Frutillita in Latin America. To complete my look, I wore a pair of overalls I borrowed from my sister. That alone was incredibly strange for me. I NEVER wear overalls. In fact, I haven't owned a pair since I was a toddler. Overalls have always been my sister's thing and I guess because I never wanted to take that from her I never bothered to get myself a pair.

But I must admit, they were extremely comfortable. I paired these overalls with a white shirt with strawberries and a red bow as well as a pink baseball hat. I felt very cute, but my costume was subtle compared to most of the other attendees. There were jedis with glowing lightsabers, a Spider-Punk with an electric guitar, as well as three Marios and two Luigis. It was really funny seeing people dance to salsas and bachatas in their costumes. Worlds were colliding, Kim Possible danced with the Riddler and Gamora danced with Anikan Skywalker. It was a lot of fun, as a result I got home late and by the time I finally went to bed it was 1:00 am and I started work the next day at 8:00. I even wore glasses to work cuz my eyes were so dry and tired. But despite all this, I can confidently say that I regret nothing.
