Soccer & Saka (entry no.9)

I'm mad at my past-self for saying I'd be back in two days, what she obviously meant was two times two days. Weekends are pretty busy for me so I didn't have time to write an entry on Sunday like I originally wanted to. Then Monday came around and I avoided my computer like the plague cuz I have assignments due and no desire to do them. At the moment, I am currently missing review for the final exam next week in my database management class. It's a really easy class and if for whatever reason I'm feeling uncertain about the exam, I'll probably just watch the recording so it's really no big deal.

Speaking of final exams, I have one later today for my elective this semester; Languages of the World. It's open book and multiple choice questions so I'm not in the slightest bit worried about it. I hope that doesn't come across as arrogant because believe me if it weren't open book I'd be under an insurmountable amount of stress. Nonetheless, I am feeling a little stressed out today, the coffee I just finished drinking probably didn't help cuz now I can feel the anxiety kicking in as the cherry on top. You can't see me but I just held my hands out to see if they were shaking and sure enough they're wobbling like Jell-O. I tend to stress over the little things, today I'm stressed about the Arsenal vs Bayern Champions League game. I'm ridiculous I know.

That being said, I LOVE soccer. I can't play it to save my life but I love watching it, strategizing, building teams. This year, my friends are gonna try to teach me how to play FC24. I've never been very good at sports themed video games but we'll see how it goes. Anyways, back to the Arsenal vs Bayern game. Arsenal is my absolute favorite soccer team principally because of Bukayo Saka, my favorite player. But don't get the facts twisted, I'm an Arsenal fan because I was a Saka fan first. Interestingly enough, I became a fan almost 4 years ago during the last Euro Cup. I watched him miss that last penalty for England during shootouts when he was only 18 years old but I knew how great of a player he was/would become. Now, Saka never misses a penalty, it's been an exhilarating experience to watch his growth.

But despite all that growth, I don't know if that's enough to save us from the enormous monster that is Bayern Munich. I talked with my dad and friends about it and they agree with me, if we don't win today we're out of the running. Oh gosh I'm sweating just thinking about it. It's been a big year for Arsenal, not only are they fighting to stay in the Champions League, they are also fighting to win the Premier League. They are currently at the top of the league with nothing but goal difference separating them from Liverpool in second place. As I write, there are only seven matches left in the season with each one being more important than the next. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I really believe that we can win this year, and if we don't then we get up and try again. Just like Saka. :)
